Aphrodite - Muses Collection

Here is the FIFTH piece, “Aphrodite,” in my LATEST SERIES of semi-abstract paintings. The series is partly inspired by the stories of gods, goddesses and other deities from Greek mythology, and so I call it “Muses”.

Aphrodite is of course the very well known ancient Greek goddess of love and beauty (named as Venus by the Romans). I felt she was the most appropriate deity to associate with this piece because of the sensual curves of the figure.

As with all of the paintings in this series, I created the underlying figure with many, many THOUSANDS of white ink dots on heavy-duty black art paper and then applied splashes of scarlet over the white form.
